Data licenses

Licenses are available from our storefront for single projects or unlimited use. This page describes what is included in the licenses.

For any questions, please contact us at info@eora.org

About the 'Academic Use' licenses

Special pricing is available for academic users. Academic use means use by:

  • students in school, high school, or enrolled in a bachelor's degree or equivalent, or
  • graduate students, for the purpose of writing an assignment, thesis, or paper published in a peer-reviewed academic journal, or
  • academic researchers (affiliated with a university, research institute, or research department within a larger organization), for use in papers published in peer-reviewed academic journals.
In academic use it is not permitted to re-publish more than 200 raw data points from Eora, publish datasets from which >200 Eora data points can be extracted or reverse engineered, or publish large datasets which are substantially based on Eora. The Eora academic license is designed to support research which derives insights from the database. For academic work which intendeds to develop a new resource based on Eora, please contact us to request permission.
It is not permitted to use Eora data licensed under an Academic license for commercial purposes.

A standard license is required for all other use cases aside from the above. This includes use in reports (including reports which are peer reviewed but not published in a scientific journal), software tools, websites, or any other use case aside from theses, assignments, and academic papers in peer reviewed journals.

Please also read the remainder of this page, as some of the terms below also hold for academic use.

How to buy

Visit our storefront.

What are the terms of the Eora commercial license?

Please read the license terms here: Eora Commercial License. When you buy an Eora license, you will be asked to agree to this license during the order process.

Single Project licenses

Single-Project Use licenses allow the data to be used for a single project, for example a single report, consulting project, report, or similar, with a single outcome and time frame on the order of 2 months.

10 Country Pack

A 10 Country Pack provides the national IO tables for 10 countries of your choice. The countries can be selected at any time (e.g. five could be specified at purchase and the other five chosen later). You will be able to set the countries at your Account page. We do not offer pricing for individual country IO tables nor special pricing for other country sets (e.g. for coverage of the EU you would need to either choose the full Eora model or buy three 10 Country Packs).

Updates

All subscriptions give access to all updates to the model while the subscription is active. Normally the model is updated once a year.

Republishing of data

Bulk republishing, reselling, and redistribution are not allowed.

Not more than 200 individual raw data points may be published at any one location (report, paper, website, etc.).

It is permitted to publish larger result sets which combine our data with other data in such a way that it is not possible to use reverse-engineering to recover the Eora data.

Support

Data licenses do not include support. We aim to provide a reasonable level of support for free, however in case excess support is needed we will alert you to this and begin billing for that support. Excess support can be approximately defined as more than 4 hours of nontechnical work or more than 1 hour of technical work. Excess support is provided at our consulting rate, billed in 0.5 day increments.

Satisfaction Guarantee

We strive to provide a high-fidelity database with transparent confidence intervals for all values. Due to fundamentally conflicting and incomplete data in the official data we receive this is a challenging goal to realize and we recognize that Eora - like most economic datasets - contains some outlier values. In light of this, we offer the following steps to guarantee your satisfaction:

  1. Before purchasing, make use of the Trial License period to evaluate the data you are interested in.
  2. If you identify an issue, use the Frequently Asked Questions and documentation to understand the issue and develop a workaround.
  3. Eora provides reliability statistics (standard deviations) for every value in the model. Evaluate whether you can use and communicate this uncertainty information through your analysis.
  4. We are happy to provide a modest level of support and answer questions for free.
  5. For more substantial support, i.e. requiring programming expertise, we can provide this at our daily consulting rate. Please recognize that making changes to the model for individual clients is usually not feasible. Substantial issues will be noted and addressed in future updates.
  6. If after taking the above steps the issue still prevents you from using your Eora purchase as you intended, we will offer a full refund.
